Here are some of my favorite pictures from this year
All Zoe cared about for 3 days straight was, "more drum."
A band would pass and she would happily drum and dance along
Then as soon as they were out of sight.
"More drum."
As if I could magically make them reappear. Maybe to her it seemed that way, since there was almost always another marching band close behind.
Horses? Who cares.
Costumes? Meh.
Lights and bubbles and fire and dancing. Boring.
MORE DRUM.
Speaking of drums
In 2010, Endymion got stopped for a very long time. Luckily, St. Paul's marching band was in front of us so we were highly entertained most of the time. After 30 minutes though, some of the band members were looking less than pleased. It was early in the route to be stalled out for such a long time. I snapped this picture of one unhappy camper.
We actually saw him again when we were at Mardi Gras in 2011. I didn't get a picture, but here's proof.
Don't ask me what instrument he's playing.
We didn't make it down in 2012 and we had all but forgotten our little band friend.
But this year, look what happened...
That's right, we saw him! If you are not excited right now, then go away.
We actually saw him the night before and said we weren't leaving New Orleans without another picture of him. So when we saw St. Paul approach on Sunday night I literally jumped off a ladder, grabbed my camera, ran down the street, and pushed through the crowd in order to make this happen.
