A Shower to Remember

Saturday there was a baby shower up in here!

Not for me. For my friend.

First, I have to brag about the invitation I made.

The grey blocks have text under them, but not everyone needs my cell phone number and home address. I made the yellow ombre chevron pattern in Photoshop using this tutorial. Then I just adjusted the opacity on each layer in order to make the ombre.

I was inspired by things like this

I wanted the invites to be bright and happy, so they went in yellow envelopes with a lemon sticker to seal them...

The lemon sticker printouts came from this website.

I was so happy when I found the perfect flower stamps at the post office...

Now for the menu. I really wanted the food to be pretty, so I liked the idea of one bite appetizers that were all about the presentation.

  • Appetizers
    • Watermelon, feta, and mint
    • Cucumber soup (this has some kick to it FYI)
    • Dates with goat cheese and almond

  • Main Course
    • Vegetable frittata (red onion, red pepper, green pepper, mushroom, and zucchini)
    • Chive biscuits
    • Asparagus bundles (some in prosciutto and some not for the vegetarians)
    • Strawberry Salad

  • Dessert
    • Fruit Salad (apricot, pineapple, red grapes, grapefruit, oranges, and watermelon)
      • I wanted it to be in the yellow color family, so no green or blue fruit.
    • Cake
  • Drinks
    • Mimosas
    • Rosemary Lemonade (there is no recipe for the concoction we ended up with!)

Onward to decor!!

We had a 2 dozen spider mums, 3 paper lanterns, 3 tissue flowers, and swirly things. What's a swirly thing?

This is a swirly thing

And the cutest little favors, which had glazed lemon cookies in them baked by another host.

I cut squares of yellow fabric that I had leftover from recovering Zoe's glider and then stamped them with alphabet stamps. I used the same lemon printouts as the stickers on the invitations, but just printed them on card stock.

It really came together nicely, but one of my favorite things...

She's using CLOTH DIAPERS!!!

Yes, that requires caps and 3 exclamation points.
